HOPING FOR A BETTER JAMAICA

Mi say everytime mi read di Jamaican star, observer,gleaner,etc...mi just get cross and miserable.People a wha really a gwaan a wi little island? Di kids dem nuh safe anymore, di elderly nah live out dem lifespan no more, di women dem a feel it and di yutes dem a suffa like dawg. Mi heart a bleed, something has to be done, we as individuals have to start working on getting Jamaica back on the right track if is even one child at a time!
I believe we can start in our communities, neighborhood watch, kids clubs, etc.
Educate the kids about school violence so they will not fall victims. Provide after school activities and homework support groups for kids basic school and up.
Discipline starts within the homes but with teens having teens and the extreme poverty in some communities, we cannot depend on just the teaching at home anymore. I believe the school personels now have to try and come up with some proactive strategies to steer these kids away from violence. It has to start from the basic schools and up, it is time each person start reaching out to make Jamaica a better place. We cannot depend on our Government as corruption is in every crevice and corner. It is going to be very hard but I think it is full time we as law abiding citizens of Jamaica try to come up with a plan to help rid our island of crime, making it a safer place for the children.Safety is a collective responsibilty.
Below are my suggestions and please feel free to add more.
*LEADER EXCHANGE- Get rid of the corrupted leaders that are currently running Jamaica.
- This will result in objective leaders, less bias, less corruption as leaders
from another country would not be easily influenced. Our current
Government on both sides just cannot seem to sever their ties from the
so call area leaders/dons. Agressively and proactively fight corruption
and organized crime. More modern technology needed to assist with
fighting crime. The police/army need to be rid of corruption asap.
These departments are in dire need of re-screening, thorough
background checks and annual performance checks.

*IMPROVE EDUCATION-Stamp out gangs, fights & bullying in schools. Crisis management,
monitor vendors, stamp out any form of drug selling or use.
I have read about too many teen criminals, we have to nip it when
they are young.

*BETTER HEATHCARE SYSTEM- Form a Physicians network that offers discount service
Approach Pharmacies to offer discount price on medication

*Implement a Housing Plan for the homeless- Use up some of those used acres of Government
owned land.

*Redevelopment of Jamaica- More aid to the farmers, export more & import less, keep our
money in the island. Create jobs for Jamaicans. Teach the children
skills to enable them to be entreprenuers from early.

Jamaicans are very street smart and it is time this type of smart is used for the good of rebuilding the island all over again.

  1. Couldnt have been said better... Change haffi start with hope... and from the people because we cannot rely pan di corrupted.. Jamaicans street smart yes but dem lack logic and the only way fi develop that is at least create some kind of system fi educate them. Mi father always say and illiterate person abroad can reason wid u better than an illiterate person in Jamaica...and when mi sidung and look pan it ... its true , some a dem smart fi work n know how fi mek a dollar but thats as far as it goes... We need di crisis management like last yr or 10 years ago... one of them which is the rape unit has failed a lot of women over the years.. the fact that men in Jamaica feel they can touch a woman who is passing by... it speaks volumes... BUT WE A HOPE FI CHANGE AND WE WANT CHANGE SO WE A GO START WID WE... I agree agree... all di farming... yes we need that fi build back... LET US START TO MAKE A CHANGE
